Your sweetheart give you some beautiful blooms for Valentine’s Day? Don’t even think about tossing those roses; save them and make this easy DIY Rose Petal Sugar Scrub. The best part…it only takes four ingredients!
I get really dry skin in the winter, so I lean on scrubs a lot this time of year. Not only does it give you super soft skin, but it helps the body absorb those expensive beauty products we all buy. I also love experimenting with making your own spa products like this.
This recipe took me about 10 minutes from start to finish and is so much cheaper than a store-bought scrub.
I’ve been using it a couple times a week all over my body. It’s also gentle enough to use on your lips.
The first step is drying out a few of your roses. This took me about five days. I hung them upside down on a hanger with some twine.
Now about the ingredients:
– brown sugar – natural exfoliator and is gentler than other sugars
– coconut oil – good for your skin, contains Vitamin E and other essential amino acids
– rose essential oil – hydrates the skin, helps relieve anxiety and stress, plus it smells heavenly!
– rose petals – have anti-aging properties and oils help lock in moisture
DIY Rose Petal Sugar Scrub
1.5 cup sugar
1/4 cup coconut oil
Handful of dried rose petals about 12
20 drops of rose oil
Optional 1 tbsp rosewater (helps with inflammation!)
*I found my container for under $5 at Home Goods or there’s plenty of options online on Amazon
-Melt the coconut oil in a microwave-safe bowl, about 45 seconds (do this in 10 second intervals).
-Add coconut oil, brown sugar, rose oil, rosewater (optional) and dried rose petals to a blender or food processor. Pulse until evenly blended and petals are now tiny flakes.
You can also customize this scrub with whatever scents you love! I would love to try adding in some lavender and/ or lemon zest next time.
This lasted me about three weeks.
