How to Wear the Biggest Color of the Year – Ultra Violet

Each year, Pantone releases it’s color of the year, pointing fashion fans in the direction of what will be trending.  In 2018, it’s all about Ultra Violet, which Pantone says “communicates originality, ingenuity, and visionary thinking that points us toward the future.”  On today’s post, I’m rounding up my favorite pieces to help you wear the biggest color of the year.

The rain has officially begun, and it is nonstop here in Portland, so, I don’t know about you, but I’m needing A LOT of help getting dressed and getting going in the morning.  Bright colors to the rescue!

I will say…I used to be a little bit of a shrinking violet when it came to purple.  It’s definitely a tough color to incorporate.

But this jacket from J Crew Factory really sold me on it (under $115 too!).  I can be wearing a sweatsuit underneath and still get lots of complements.

With Ultra Violet, it’s all about balance.  I think it works really well as an accent color;  a soft sweater, bright jeans or fun accessories.  And in this post, I’m trying something a little new with my picks:  lust, must and steal.

Lust are the items over $150 that I will pretty much never be buying because I’m cheap.  Must runs from $60-$150, and are definitely all sitting in my closet.  And steals are all under $60 and I probably have five of each already.  Here are a few of my fav pieces out there!

*This is actually my FAVORITE work dress.  I have it in more of a chambray blue, black and red and would wear it on days that I really wanted to look good.  You still need Spanx, but it also sucks everything in and gives you an amazing shape.
