Hi friends… I am back from a wonderful vacation in Tulum, Mexico, just in time for Portland to get hit with several inches of snow. Seriously, we might get anywhere from 1 to 14 inches! Yuck…but before I get to this weekend’s reads…
I’m planning on doing a more intensive Tulum travel diary for you in the next few weeks, but I wanted to share some of our vacation highlights.
Tulum feels like a really magical place. First of all, restaurants and bars are all nestled in the jungle. It honestly reminded me of a mix of Southeast Asia, Mexico and LA.
The last night we were there, we ate a place called Safari, where the food is cooked out of an airstream trailer and a fire pit under the open sky.
We stayed on the Tulum beach side (vs. the pueblo). It has beautiful white sand beaches (quite a bit of seaweed though), and the water is that special shade of Caribbean blue.
One of my favorite parts was going to a cenote, which are sinkholes where the groundwater comes up forming a small pool. It really is otherworldly.
