Welcome back to the first 2020 edition of weekend reads! I took a little break from blogging to really enjoy my vacation to South America (read all about here!). And it’s incredible because I feel like I’m entering back with clarity, purpose and confidence. And while I’m not big on goal words or resolution setting, I wanted to share what I’m focusing on in 2020 and how I’m hoping to continue to improve in every way.
So looking ahead in 2020…
I want to be nicer to myself. This could look like a lot of things. First and foremost, it means catching myself in the act of negative self talk in the mirror. This doesn’t mean staring, and being all mirror mirror on the wall and telling myself how beautiful you are. It’s just not sitting there and tearing yourself apart…pinching fat on your stomach, wondering if your nose is too big, the terrible things we all do when no one else is looking. 
It also means listening to my body and choosing what I actually want to do in that moment. I caught myself in that predicament this week. I’d been running a little ragged with all the things that need to get done for the store, so I’d been sleeping four hours a night, including on the weekends.
One of these days at 3pm, I just hit a wall, but I had signed up for an Orange Theory class. My mind could not get past the thought of working out four days this week instead of five, AND I’d owe a (very small) cancellation fee. But you know what… all I wanted to do was go home and lie on the couch with Winston.
This conversation with myself went back and forth for some time before I was like… “You know what? Choose what you ACTUALLY WANT to do.” And I laid down and watched some “Siesta Key.” LOL
