Best Fall Coats and Weekend Reads | 10-23

Happy Friday everybody!  Temps have dropped here in Portland over the last few days, so I have bundling up on my mind.  That being said, I thought it’d be fun to share some of the best fall coats of 2020, some of my all time favorite jacket buys and five types of coats to buy this season.

5 Must-Have Coats for 2020

-Teddy Coat

-Wool Plaid Coat

-Leather Biker Jacket

-Camel Colored Wool Coat

-Bright. Colors.  Preferably in a faux fur.

This Mango teddy coat is probably my favorite coat purchase of last year.  It just makes you feel fancy while also been insanely warm and cozy.  I took it to NYC in February and it was perfection.Mango Teddy Coat, cream teddy coat, best teddy coats, sherpa coat, long sherpa coat

A few similar options for 2020:  this Abercrombie sherpa coat and this (on sale) J.Crew one

I also love this Avec Les Filles plaid coat I splurged on last year during the Nordstrom sale (now 50% off here!).  It is just the perfect plaid and the perfect statement piece for the winter.

Found this adorable under $100 plaid coat option.   Also picked up this Old Navy coat.

This year, I’d like to invest in a really nice black or camel tailored coat.  I’ve had some over the years that I bought from places like H&M that haven’t really held up over time.

This camel coat is GORGEOUS and sold out at Nordstrom, but found it at Macy’s.  This is a great budget friendly option.

I have this Topshop leather biker jacket and love it.  Plus it’s under $50 right now!

Adore this grey check blazer/coat.

Now for the brights.  We have a really gorgeous pink faux fur coat coming into Confête in the next few weeks that I cannot WAIT to share.  But for now, the color of this J.Crew coat is just wow.  And what I like about a bright color coat is that we’re not getting to dress up to go to a lot of places, so why not make a stylish splash with your outerwear.

Weekend Reads | 10-23

In the market for some new books, and I just picked up two new thrillers:  this and this.

I’m going to try my hand at homemade apple cider later tonight.

I LOVE this Christmas artwork to hang in our new home.

Looking for scary movies?  I discovered that Amazon did a whole deal with Blumhouse Productions (the producers of Paranormal Activity, Get Out, The Purge and many more) to create four new horror movies.  We watched Nocturne, and it was a fun watch.

Also very excited that the second season of this show is now out.

This was a really interesting piece this week on the rise of pay-for-play media in place of the traditional, objective news outlets.  It’s super important to the conversation of knowing what you’re reading and who is behind it.

27 bedroom decorating ideas.  I love the scarf wall art.

Chipotle shared its chips recipe on TikTok this week.

Dolly Parton has a Christmas collection with Williams Sonoma?!

This Target accent table is everything.

I’m really excited to attempt this Halloween charcuterie board tonight.

We made two dinners that were really delicious this week, both vegetarian:

Sweet Potato Kale Black Bean Enchiladas

Delicata Squash and Radicchio Salad

I also shared my favorite healthy granola recipe on the blog this week.  This would be a fun activity with the kiddos.

I might need this hooded cardigan in my life.

Really like this list of clever ways to celebrate Halloween safely this year.  We’re doing virtual movie nights with friends (in costume obvi).

30 soup recipes perfect for this time of year.

We have no space for a daybed, but I am obsessed with this World Market one.
