In My Cart: Beauty Essentials and Weekend Sales

So as a television reporter, I have learned A LOT about makeup over the years.  And from having to wear a lot of makeup, I have also learned A LOT about skincare.  So this week in celebration of Sephora’s biannual sale, I’m sharing the beauty essentials that I just can’t live without.

And if you couldn’t guess from that lead-in, a lot of those are skincare products.  I’m kinda a skincare junkie.

It comes from ten years of slathering my face with HD makeup, applying loads of black eyeliner and fake eyelashes three times a day, everyday.  I really was starting to see myself age quickly.  That’s when I realized that I really needed to invest in good skincare products.

I also like to change up what I use on my skin every few months, partially out of boredom, partially out of estheticians have told me that’s a good idea.  But below, I’m sharing those few holy grail items that I keep in regular rotation.

Sephora’s deal starts today for those who are Beauty Insiders.  You get 10% off, which is huge considering this only happens twice a year.  It’s free and super easy to sign up right here.

In My Cart:  Beauty Essentials

Do you ever feel like a good blush can make your look?!  So I just started using this Marc Jacobs blush in Kink & Kisses after seeing Gal Meets Glam talk about it.   It’s warm and rosy and gives you the most perfect pink cheek.  I can be bare faced and just apply this and my skin looks radiant.

The Glow Recipe Watermelon Sleep Mask might be my favorite product that I use right now.   I slather this one and wake up with perfectly toned and hydrated skin…EVERY TIME.

I use this Tata Harper oil at night after my best friend, who used to be a beauty editor, turned my onto her stuff.  It’s a little pricy at $78, but a few drops goes a long way and it smells like Hawaii.

I have tried a lot of products trying to tame my messy hair.  My natural hair is dry and slightly frizzy and yet also has a weird kinky wave to it.  So trying to get the perfect TV anchor hair was no small feat, but this product is my absolute favorite to use before a blow dry.  It makes it really smooth and hydrated and more amenable to other heat products without drying it.

The Hourglass primer and foundation are some of the best around.  In real life, it gives you the perfect amount of glow and plumps any fine lines.  I will say in pictures or on TV, it can give you a little too much shine, so I really only use it when I’m off camera.

St. Tropez
is my favorite self tanner ever.  I haven’t found a product that even comes close.  Use the mitt for no streaks.

I LOVE masks.  I probably use them every other night.  This is a great hydrating mask from Farmacy called Honey Potion.  I find it’s great to use after a long travel day to boost moisture.
