Picture this: you’re sitting by a toasty fireplace, sipping hot cocoa under a cozy blanket, watching Christmas movies… does anything get you more in the holiday spirit than that?! I feel like I’ve been pinning Christmas fireplace decoration ideas for years. And now that we have a house (mind you that we don’t even live there yet), that was the first thing I wanted to deck out for the holidays.
There’s something just so magical about a fireplace.
But how to choose just how to decorate your Christmas fireplace? There’s so many options. So I said to myself, why choose just one! So today I’m sharing the two different ways I decorated our mantle for Christmas.

Neutral and Natural Christmas Fireplace
This next set-up definitely has major Scandinavian vibes. And it’s relatively low-cost with a DIY dried orange garland as its centerpiece.
I’m always pulled toward whites and other neutral colors in design, so when I saw other dried fruit garlands on Pinterest, I knew I wanted to try a Christmas fireplace with that theme.
We used a greenery garland that we purchased from the grocery store (New Seasons locally). Trader Joe’s definitely has them as well. And the dried orange garland is a super simple DIY.
Take four oranges and cut them into 1/4 inch slices. Pat the slices dry with a paper towel. Bake at 250 degrees for about three hours or until brown. Let them cool.
I used butcher twine to make the garland. Tie a small knot, then thread the orange onto the twine, and tie another knot on the other side of it to hold the slice in place. If you want to have all the oranges closer together, then disregard the knots and just string them all together.
