Weekend Reads | 1-8

Happy Friday, and welcome to another weekend reads!

Since this is the first post of 2021, I wanted to share a few of my “resolutions” for the year.  And when I say resolutions, these things are more like yearly outlooks than any sort of tangible goal.

The first being resolution being… have more fun!  I saw this piece from Camille Styles on her wanting to have more fun in 2021, and it really resonated.  Having fun is generally something I’m very good at, but it feels like as 2020 droned on, it got harder and harder to do that.

I really want to try to bring back the excitement over making little things an event or celebration and just generally chill out and have fun.

What I’m excited about this year:

-the potential for things to go back to normal

-hosting friends in our new house

-getting to travel again

-decorating our house

My second resolution is to be less attached to outcomes.  This idea came to me, primarily as it relates to body image.  As many women do, I work out tirelessly, deprive myself of eating what I want most of the time, then beat myself up when I actually do eat something I want.  I constantly look in the mirror, pinch fat, decide today I do have abs, but 12 hours later I don’t.  It’s exhausting.

I actually do really like working out.  I think it’s fun and relaxing.  So instead of being attached to the outcome of what working out may do for me, I want to just enjoy it.  If it also whittles my waist, then that should just be a bonus.

What are some of your goals for 2021?!
