The Power of Imagination and Weekend Reads

This week, I came across this NY Times fascinating piece on the power of imagination and optimism during difficult times.  It discusses how the absence of hope is a common symptom of depression.  And that our hours spent daydreaming about the good things to come, no matter how big or small, are actually quite valuable to us.

The article also has people’s ridiculous and amazing dreamed-up plans of what they plan to do after the pandemic.  So what are you daydreaming about?

For me, it’s going out to a bar and having a cocktail with my husband and our friends.  It’s going on my yearly girls’ trip somewhere beautiful and warm.  It’s hosting friends and family in (what will be) our beautiful backyard.  It’s getting dressed up again…for everything and anything.  And what I really want to do is throw a big ol’ black tie party, even if it’s just having people over to our house for it.

Places to daydream about…

Weekend Reads | 1-21

I get so excited when I see all these predictions of a “roaring 20’s redux.”

Bought these $53 bow heels for just that!

A great little round-up of unique Valentine’s Day date ideas.

I’m very intrigued by this cheap Amazon fitness tracker that gets amazing reviews!

These are my favorite sports bras and they’re so hard to find.  But they’re 40% off at Backcountry this week.

I also ordered these Target leggings and matching sports bra in the bright green.

We’ve been watching this show at bedtime; they are indeed terrible people, but it’s hilarious.

Finally finished the “WeCrashed” podcast, which follows the rise and fall of WeWork.  The podcast itself was just ok, but there’s a bonus episode, “Unicorns on the Loose” that is just incredibly interesting as it pertains to how companies brand themselves today and the thin line between imagination and straight up lies.

These pink and white pjs are adorable.

Really enjoyed this Tiger Woods doc.  Only criticism would be that it could’ve been longer.

A cozy rainbow cardigan, perfect for thinking spring, but still staying warm.

Speaking of bright colors… in love with these Markarian dresses that the Biden granddaughters wore Inauguration night.

Also, my best friend and I have wanted to do a NYE tux look for SOOO long.  This is the perfect inspiration.

Jennifer Lake has a great round-up of colorful coats inspired by the Inauguration.

Huge fan of this $4 lip balm.

I’ve bought one coffee table book in my life to be exact, but I really want more!

I feel like I need this floor length striped cardigan.

New drugstore dupes for your favorite $$$ skincare products.

Adding this new show to my weekend watch list.

I’m about to try this TikTok tortilla hack immediately after Whole30.

Did you know Inauguration poet Amanda Gorman actually has a speech impediment?!
